How Wedding Photographers Upload Thousands of Edited Photos Overnight

Delivery fails at 2 a.m. when a browser tab dies. This is the overnight plan that actually finishes.

A wedding weekend can leave 5,000 to 20,000 edited files. Clients now expect the gallery sooner than a week of babysitting uploads. The bottleneck is not export speed. It is an upload that depends on a laptop staying awake with a tab open.

Use the Kamero desktop app for Windows or Mac for the overnight run. Use Kam-Sync during the event for live previews. They solve different jobs. For the product story, see Kamero Admin for Windows & Mac.

1. Make folders match albums before you start

Export one parent folder per event, one subfolder per album. Create the same albums in Kamero if you are not using one-shot upload. Matching names make it obvious what is missing when you compare counts in the morning.

Example: Sharma Wedding/Haldi, Sangeet, Wedding, Reception. One-shot upload turns each of those subfolders into an album. Folders nested deeper are skipped.

2. Choose Standard or Original once

  • Standard: 1 credit per photo, built for fast guest viewing. On the desktop app, standard also takes files over 50 MB.
  • Original (including one-shot): 2 credits, full-resolution file kept, up to 50 MB per file.
  • Sell Photos events: standard uploads, up to 100 MB. Sell Photos checkout is in the same app.

Switching halfway through 10,000 files is painful. If only a few clients need print masters, see original quality photo delivery.

3. Start the desktop queue, then leave it

  1. Install Kamero Admin if you have not. Windows walkthrough: desktop app on a PC.
  2. Open the event. Use One Shot Original Upload on the parent folder, or drop one album at a time for a huge event so you can verify each album as it finishes.
  3. Check the preview counts before you start.
  4. Plug in Ethernet if you can. Set the computer not to sleep while it is plugged in — Windows power settings or Mac Energy settings.
  5. Keep external drives connected. The app reads each file from disk as it uploads.

The queue is saved on the computer. If Wi-Fi drops or you quit the app, reopen Kamero Admin in the morning. Interrupted files that already reached Kamero are marked complete; the rest resume. Failed files retry automatically, then stay visible so you can retry anything still marked failed.

4. Morning checks before you share the link

  1. Compare each album count with the export folder.
  2. Retry anything still failed in the Upload Queue screen.
  3. Give face recognition a few minutes to index new photos.
  4. Open the gallery as a guest, try a selfie search, then send the QR or short link.

That last step is the difference between "uploaded" and "delivered." Instant delivery positioning for couples: why wedding photographers moved to instant delivery.

Several photographers on one event

Give each shooter an album, or agree who owns which folders, so the same selects are not uploaded twice. Deduplication helps; it does not replace a clear hand-off.

Quick checklist

  • One export folder per album, one parent folder for one-shot
  • Standard or Original chosen
  • Desktop app signed in; sleep off; drives plugged in
  • Queue empty; counts match; selfie search works; then share

Frequently asked questions

What is the fastest way to upload thousands of wedding photos to Kamero?

Use Kamero Admin, the desktop app for Windows or Mac. One-shot upload queues a parent folder and its album subfolders. The queue runs in the background and resumes if you close the app.

Should I upload during the wedding or after editing?

Both. Kam-Sync can send JPEGs from the camera during the event. Overnight, upload the edited set with the desktop app so the final gallery is complete before morning.

Will a sleeping computer stop the upload?

Yes. Set Windows or Mac not to sleep while plugged in until the queue is empty. If the machine restarts, reopen Kamero Admin — the saved queue resumes without uploading completed files twice.
